Manjula Muir Ceramics
Manjula has developed her own unique style blending eastern mysticism with western design
About the Artist
Born in Paddington, London but spending her formative years in Sri-lanka she returned with her family to the UK aged 7.
The unspoilt nature that was the Garden of Eden in which she and her siblings remember as their playground at their home in Sri Lanka has left a lasting influence.
She spent the 70's and 80's in Essex with her family and went to University in Dundee. After initially following a career as an accountant, in 2003 she embarked on her long term passion for art and creativity that she had since childhood. Largely self taught she went on to study further into ceramics at the University of Hertfordshire in 2008 and City Lit London in 2014.
Philosophy and Inspiration
Manjula believes that the pleasure in creating her work imbues positive energy into the clay memory. This positive energy is communicated to people who enjoy her work. In this way, she can connect with people, transcending culture, language and backgrounds to share her enthusiasm and enjoyment of this art form. Manjula's familiarity with both western and eastern cultures influences her work drawing inspiration from a wide variety of objects places and philosophical ideas. Her studio is at her home in Hertfordshire. She also teaches ceramics and enjoys passing on her passion and skill of this art form.
